Prince George dancer made it to top six Prince George dancer, Izzak Smith, is still in Toronto, but his daily routine has changed radically since being eliminated Nov. 27 from the So You Think You Can Dance Canada contest.
The 19-year-old is now housed in a Toronto hotel where he’ll stay during rehearsals for CTV’s grand finale show Dec. 7 in which the top 20 dancers will perform and Canada’s favourite dancer will be crowned.
“It’s been a really weird feeling going from giving it everything you’ve got every day to having nothing to do,” Izaak said in a Monday interview.
The contest taught him “how to dance full out once you’ve already given your all and find new ways to hit it hard, when there’s nothing left to give.”
“I feel happy to have made it this far, but at the same time it sucks,’ said Izaak who made it to the top six out of 20 top finalists in Canada.
Back home here, he plans on “doing some choreography and hopefully making my way down to Vancouver and getting some work there. I’ve learned so much here that I’m so excited to share.”
On Monday the eliminated dancers were coming back for the final show, and today they’ll be busy once again in rehearsals.
“I am excited about coming home. I missed Prince George a lot more than I thought I would,” said Izaak who expects to be coming home shortly after the Sunday show, but said he’ll let us know exactly when he is due to arrive.
Wednesday’s performance will feature the final four — Allie Bertram, Miles Faber, Natalli Reznik and Nico Archambault — with the winner of $100,000 prize being named during Sunday’s two-hour finale.
