Pieter West is a South African singer best known as one of the Top 14 finalists on the sixth season of the M-Net reality competition Idols, in 2010.
Pieter is a born and bred Freestate boy, having grown up in the small town of Koffiefontein, where he was Head Boy of his school.
He studied at UFS, obtaining a degree in financial management, and completed his Honours degree in investment management.
Before entering Idols Pieter worked as an accountant for a meat company in Thaba N’chu, with his only musical experience being playing the guitar at his cousin’s wedding.
He has no formal singing training.
